Sweet & Fair is a small, home-based catering business in Gateshead, run by trained pastry chef and qualified nutritionist, Abby. I provide homemade catering for parties, weddings and special occasions across Gateshead, Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne & Wear and the wider North East. I specialise in afternoon tea catering, cold buffets, wedding dessert tables, celebration cakes and bespoke cakes, all made to order using high-quality ingredients and attention to detail.

Sweet & Fair started with my love of baking and patisserie, and although the business has grown to offer much more than cakes and desserts, creating great homemade food remains at the heart of what I do.
I care about where my ingredients come from, minimising waste and making a positive contribution through the business, including donating 10% of my profits to charity.

Why Sweet & Fair?
When Sweet & Fair first started, it was all about cakes, traybakes and sharing our love of baking and patisserie with the world, so it felt only right that ‘Sweet’ should be reflected in our name! Over the years, we have grown and branched out into the realm of savoury, and now offer a variety of delicate sandwiches, colourful salads and flavourful pastries. But making sweet treats remains a passion and we pride ourselves on the array of high-quality homemade desserts we provide.
As for ‘Fair’, it has always been important to us to ensure that our business operates in a way that treats people and animals fairly, contributes positively to the local community and respects the environment. This means sourcing our ingredients carefully; for example, choosing products that are certified with the Fairtrade mark or Rainforest Alliance logo, only ever using free range eggs, and selecting local British produce where possible. We’re also always looking for ways to reduce our carbon footprint and most of our packaging is recyclable, reusable or compostable. Being a small business helps us to minimise food waste (we’ll gladly finish off anything we don’t manage to sell, even the sandwich crusts!) And finally, we donate 10% of our net profits to charity - particularly charities who aim to reduce poverty and social inequalities; improve nutrition and combat hunger.
I just wanted to say a massive thank you for preparing such a delicious afternoon tea for my daughter's birthday yesterday. Everything was outstanding! All delicious and clearly all homemade with such skill. I will be recommending you to all family and friends and I'll also write a glowing review. Honestly, we couldn't have been happier!
